John J Krueger, M.D. Lectureship
Tuesday, October 8, 2024 Wyndham, Virginia Beach Oceanfront 5700 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach 6:00 pm Cocktail; 7:00 pm Dinner Mission Statement: “To further the educational, philanthropic, and collegial efforts of the Virginia Beach medical community.” Vision Statement: The John J. Krueger, M.D. Foundation strives to further the educational, philanthropic, and collegial efforts of the Virginia Beach medical community. By promoting scholarship, professionalism, and community service as the late Dr. John Krueger inspired us, we hope to promote and expand the highest quality of care of medical care we can provide our citizens. |
About the Krueger Foundation:
• Created in 1997 to honor the memory of John J. Krueger, MD, Director of Pathology at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (1964-1996).
• Hosts an annual dinner to which all Virginia Beach physicians, guests, and members of the hospital auxiliaries are invited and open to the community at large. A keynote lecture is given by a nationally-recognized speaker.
• Annually honors a “Physician of the Year,” reflecting clinical excellence and community service epitomized by the career of John J Krueger, MD
• Annual dinner proceeds and donations serve as a primary source of revenue to fund annual scholarships awarded to medical students at EVMS as well as nurses and technicians in the Sentara Healthcare system.
• Krueger endowment generates annual resources with which to fund scholarships and medical charity contributions. Donations are tax deductible through the Sentara Foundation
• Supporting organizations include Townebank and Kaufman and Canoles
• Managed by a board of volunteer physicians, auxiliary representatives, community leaders and Sentara leadership.
• Projects under consideration for the coming years include: Charity raising event/auction/10K race an hospital shadowing experiences in medicine for high school students in the local private and public schools

Community Events
SVBGH and SPAH are carrying on Dr. Krueger’s devotion to our community and medical staff through the John J. Krueger Lectureship, which is funded through an endowment established by physicians, employees, Auxiliary members and others who have known and loved John Krueger.
